What Connecticut buildings demand

Along the Sound, Greenwich, Stamford, Westport and east toward New Haven, the work is largely high-specification residential, often on exposed waterfront sites. Salt air, wind off the water and large glazed openings are the constants, and the architectural expectation is that the frame gets out of the way of the view.

Inland and north toward Hartford and Waterbury the picture changes: older homes with genuine historic character, plus commercial and institutional buildings where the driver is energy performance and occupant comfort through a long heating season. Snow load and a real freeze-thaw cycle apply across the whole state.

How we build for it

Slim aluminum sightlines carry large glass areas without the frame dominating; which is what makes a lift-and-slide onto a Sound-facing terrace work architecturally as well as thermally. For historic properties, steel-look profiles reproduce the proportions of original steel windows while performing to a modern standard.
